The Moving Picture Boys create docu-cinema projects in the American South. Sharing a vision that less-is-more, and that finding truth takes patience and humility, directors Jace Freeman and Sean Clark have created a distinct style that blends the nostalgia of the past with the immediacy of the present moment.

Their feature film, “Baracoa,” premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and was nominated for the prestigious Glashütte Original Documentary Award. The Guardian described it as a “poetic…reverie” with an “authentic spontaneity” that “bursts with emotional rupture.” They followed this with the strikingly observed documentary “Saint Cloud Hill,” which followed the plight of a tent city being displaced by city gentrification. The film aired nationally on PBS.

In addition to their film work, The Moving Picture Boys also specialize in branded docuseries and lifestyle projects – collaborating with clients like the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, State Farm, SmileDirectClub, Vanderbilt University, and countless non-profits.

Their short branded documentaries for healthcare technology company Wellvana offer a captivating glimpse into the day-to-day life of rural doctors. These two-and-a-half minute videos succinctly and masterfully capture the unseen triumphs and challenges of these tight-knit communities and characters.

In both their film and their commercial work, The Moving Picture Boys bring poetry and an intuitive approach to storytelling. Their work is imbued with raw humanism and a focus on the small, but beautiful details of everyday life.
